The Youth Housing Network is committed to giving the young people of Milton Keynes a voice. We would like you to contribute to the YHN in any way you feel possible. Examples of ways you can get involved include:
Peer Education: give talks/workshops to schools and college students about your experience of homelessness. Many now agree that young people would much rather be given this kind of information from someone their age who has been through it themselves. If you can offer some time on a voluntary basis, contact the YHN.
Hype Theatre Company: A homeless and ex homeless theatre group for 16-25 year olds. Weekly drama workshops currently take place at The Spot Youth Café at The Point CMK on Thursdays from 7-9pm. The aim of the group is to raise awareness of youth homelessness in Milton Keynes and other youth issues, as well as performing within schools in an attempt to reduce the number of young people becoming homeless.
Youth Housing Council: if you would like to put together a group of young people who have experienced homelessness who would be willing to meet regularly to discuss issues surrounding housing and homelessness then please do so. Whatever is discussed will then be passed on to the Homelessness Steering Group, who are important in shaping the future of housing in Milton Keynes.
Your experiences: if you would like to raise any issues or problems you faced whilst you were homeless please contact the YHN. Your experiences are vital if we are to improve the services available to you.
Future development: if you have any suggestions on how you would like to see the YHN develop in the future then please contact us. We would like suggestions on website improvement, development of publications and project input. Your opinions and help are always welcome.
